The School Day
The school day at GMS runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., every weekday except Friday, when instruction closes at noon so teachers can meet for professional development. Starting in January, the seventh and eighth graders go to their apprenticeships on Friday afternoons. GreenMount School is happy to announce that, starting with the 2010-11 school year, our after care program will be conducted by The Open Door, a company that has been providing services GMS students (and teachers) bring their lunches to school, except on the one "hot lunch" day each week. On that day, students can buy slices of hot pizza and get either a fruit or vegetable and juice. Another "staple" of the GMS school day is recess, where students can burn off energy at the playground or by playing outdoor games together. |

for children before and after school since 1983. The Open Door provides children with interesting activities that are theme-based and provide additional learning experiences. There is also plenty of time for students to socialize and wind down after a hard day's work at school. The program runs from 3:30 to 6:15 Monday through Thursday and 12:30 to 6:15 on Friday. Information about registration and fees can be found at their website.
