Mathematics
The GreenMount School uses the Saxon Publishing Math Program in teaching mathematics. The following description is based on the information in the Saxon curriculum materials. Saxon uses a technique called "incremental development," which introduces topics to students in spaced steps. The steps are paced to enable the students to gain confidence at one level before moving to the next. In lesson after lesson throughout the year, previously learned information is reviewed and practiced. Learning is systematic and sequential; as lessons are mastered, they are reviewed and made more challenging. Because mathematical basics are continuously reviewed throughout the entire Saxon program, it is impossible to describe here the entire scope and sequence of the program. A detailed list is available on the Saxon website.
