H1N1 Plan of Action
Monitoring: The administration will be monitoring updates from the Center for Disease Control's website. Our office administrator will keep the administration posted on absences and any children who come to the office displaying flu-like symptoms.
Alerts: The administration will use email blasts, a phone tree and/or parent newsletters to alert parents of any unusual occurrences that may be considered an outbreak for GMS. An "outbreak" will be defined as between 10 and 15 percent of our students identified as having the flu or flu-like symptoms.
Precautions: Students have all been given instructions on hand washing and the use of hand sanitizer as well as instructions on 'respiratory etiquette', how to cough into their elbows. In addition, we have procured an approved disinfectant for treating desks, tables and chairs at the end of each day. Each teacher with a classroom has been issued this disinfectant. Computer keyboards and mice are wiped down with disinfecting wipes at the end of each day and after each class’ use in the lab. We have published guidance for parents and school employees (adopted from the CDC).
