Children learn about the world through doing. In grades K-8, our science curriculum uses the 5E Model of Inquiry-Based Learning to ensure that students learn to engage, explore, explain, elaborate, and evaluate like real scientists.
In Explorations, students continue to investigate the natural environment beyond our campus. They extend their skills in risk management as they discover how to cross a stream safely and navigate their way down local hiking trails.
"I love Explorations and the Natural Playground because I can try new things."
— 1st Grade Student
Students peer through microscopes to identify seeds from native plants, continue to practice using gardening tools, and improve the local ecosystem for all living things by removing invasive species.
Multimedia projects and presentations provide students with opportunities to demonstrate and deepen their learning while also providing scaffolding for the ways real scientists share their knowledge with the community.
